Dalida has touched many people in many countries for decades—my family included. I come from a mixed bag of backgrounds, which I often tend to narrow down as "Lebanese" to make it easier for other people. But the truth is, each country and culture I am from makes me who I am. And this is why I love Dalida, she has a similar mix and makes sure that she connects to each one through language in song. Because of this, she has become an icon in Egypt, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and more. She also reminds me of my mother and grandparents who I love very much. Nostalgia is a weird and beautiful thing.
