Plague Diary Entry #23 - Painful Injustice

Mathinna, an Indigenous Australian girl (Courtesy Inside Story).

Today has been heavy. I had a conversation that was heartbreaking and learnt about the sad story of Mathinna, an Indigenous girl from Tasmania (in Australia) who suffered a difficult life. She represents many other people who were killed, abused, and taken advantage of, not only in her and other countries where Indigenous people lived, but of all those today who continue to suffer injustices. Knowing that I am privileged and blessed to have the life that I do, I am overwhelmed with compassion and respect for these individuals and am taking this day (and many in the future) to sit with this and honour them.
