Plague Diary Entry #15 - Pining for Power

Olympias, mother of Alexander the Great (Courtesy World History Encyclopedia).

Humans have and will always crave power. Though power is defined differently through the ages, it ultimately consists of control. Control over yourself, others, and resources. This need has been amplified even more throughout COVID-19 as everyday people and politicians grapple with having a certain amount of command over their lives and the world around them. As a person who does not value power a lot in my life, I found myself intrigued at the notion and in particular, how people in history like Olympias, mother of Alexander the Great used it. *Also she ties in perfectly to the fact that the Olympics are happening now*
